...What exactly are they trying to get across. In most ads they use beautiful women so people will think that compare the beautiful woman to a cigarette. Once they see this an image is in their head and consumers are sold on the product. “Their effect is to teach children how to be as adults, to suggest to adults how to be hip, and to show seniors how hip they once were and could still be.”(1) Not all products are glamorous, even though through advertising they show they are. Society is very easily persuaded. My emotions were enraged because I do not want my children watching these ads and realizing what exactly they are trying to get across. I'm disgusted to see young teenagers smoking cigarettes for any reason. Mostly to look cool and to fit it, but also because they are around smokers and it may be a way to relieve stress. Reading this ad has not encouraged me to speak out publicly but I do speak out around my family. I have a lot of young children in my family and I want to set an example that smoke is bad for you and not to listen to other people who try to pressure you. I myself cannot say I got pressure, I was at the wrong place at the wrong time and I felt like I needed to fit in so I started to smoke. Now smoking for 6 years I regret every minute.
