Some of us do share this was of thinking. Due to the war between the U.S. and Iraq, American soldiers who were sent down there to bring peace, captured and tortured Iranian prisoners of war. They were put on leaches, dragged on cement, beaten and spat at. Just to show how society has become insensitive to pain and killing, these Americans stated this in front of the judge: “it was just for fun.” As we know today, war has once again occupied a big space in our mind. Each country has had terrible wars but the United States of America has been through some that have touched Canadian citizens greatly due to the short distance between our two countries. Today, the media fills us with a live coverage of President Bush’s declaration of going to war with Iraq, news of American Troops entering this underdeveloped country, innocents dying, and even informing us of Canadian soldiers taking part in all of this. It was one big mistake which led to an even bigger one. As a meaningless citizen, one in a million, the people of this world are ignorant to how everything came about. Nothing is deliberately told. Of course, we have all witnessed the terrible plane crashes on 9/11, but was there something hidden from us before this terrorist attack? Had the President already talked with Saddam Hussein; were there treats, suspicious letters, or some kind of negotiation needed to be done, but was overlooked, to avoid thousands of deaths? Or was there some kind of relation with George W. Bush’s father and his own personal desire to take over what his father had no accomplished? It is known that today’s President Bush shared the same mentality as his father. George Herbert Walker Bush was the youngest pilot in the Navy in his time, when he received his wings and flew 58 combat missions during World War II. During his ruling as President of America, he sent in American Troops into Panama to overthrow the corrupt regime of General Manuel Noriega.
