However, Prospero does have a strong sense of love for Miranda, and this can be seen in his willingness to remain quiet while she talks to Ferdinand in Act III, scene I. Because, although he enters the room and is actually unseen at the same time as Miranda in this scene, he does not say a word until she and Ferdinand have left the stage. During that time, Miranda remembers that prior to this conversation her father had given her “precepts” against seeing and talking to Ferdinand. She continues talking to him and then decides to break the “precepts” by trusting her desires. She then decides Ferdinand is defiantly the husband for her and therefore proposes marriage to him. By the end of the scene, Miranda seems almost to have forgotten her father entirely. She seems to have grown up immensely and tends to act much older, making her in control of her own destiny for the first time in the play. Prospero’s nature is also seen as affectionate and caring when he tells Miranda that: “I have done nothing but in care of thee/ Of thee, my dear one: thee, my daughter” It is also obvious that Prospero has a strong love for his daughter when he tells her that she is his best piece of art. Prospero always lets Miranda know that he loves her, and although there would be times when you would think that he was insensitive towards her feelings, many would say that in reality he is just telling her the whole truth about different situations. "Thy mother was a piece of virtue, and she said thou wast my daughter, and thy father was the Duke Of Milan, and thou his only heir and princess no worse issued." In conclusion, the relationship between Prospero and his daughter is generally good, however even though Prospero does overrule Miranda, she would be oblivious to this as she has grown up with only her father and and therefore wouldn’t know any different to how she has been treated .
