God has the right to give and take life, just like how these men took the lives of so many men in this battle. This quote also, even though very graphic, gives a sense of hope. Just as the changing of the seasons, which God created only in some parts of the world, this story is a transformation from winter to spring. In the darken time of battle which could be considered winter, there was much blood shed. However, when spring time arrives things blossom and bloom, and the dreary, gloomy days are over. So by saying spring has come, “from when in the morning-tide that glorious star, the sun glided aloft and over earth’s plains” (Brb 10-12), simply means that although much disaster has happened some good will come of it. Just as in God’s plans, or in his way, everything happens for a reason, and one should trust in that. Towards the end, which tells the ending of the war, gives some rather important visuals of the evils of war as well. “Behind them they left sharing out the corpses the dark-plumaged white-tailed black raven, and the dun-plumaged white tailed eagle enjoying the carrion, the greedy war-hawk and that grey beast, the wolf of the forest.”(Brb 58-61) These different characteristics are clearly talking of the men that fought and won this war.
