Students will examine the criminal justice process and study interpersonal communication skills. The criminal justice field offers a study of the mechanisms of social control, criminology and criminal justice in American society. The field content includes communication, criminal law and procedures, cyber crime and homeland security issues as well as technology skills. The program can help graduates develop particular human relations skills appropriate to the industry and an understanding of the causes and prevention of crime. The positions and occupations are as followed; Probation officers- many people who are convicted of crimes are placed on probation, instead of being sent to prison. Probation officers, who are called community supervision officers in some States, supervise people who have been placed on probation. Police and detectives-People depend on police officers and detectives to protect their lives and property. Private investigators-Private detectives and investigators offer many services, including executive, corporate, and celebrity protection; pre-employment verification; and individual background profiles. They also provide assistance in civil liability and personal injury cases, insurance claims and fraud, child custody and protection cases, and premarital screening. Increasingly, they are hired to investigate individuals to prove or disprove infidelity. Correctional officers-Correctional officers are responsible for overseeing individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial or who have been convicted of a crime and sentenced to serve time in a jail, reformatory, or penitentiary.
