A Gentleman’s Game
...nce of knowledge. This man informed me with so much information that it completely took my mind off of my golf game. The ironic point to this story is the fact that we were enjoying our company so much that our natural ability took over our minds and we both played superb. I feel that playing golf with all kinds of people helps shape my personality because it develops great manner skills and etiquette. Some of my greatest golf memories revolve in the Wisconsin Dells, WI. One of the memories that I will never forget was the time when my father and I played at The Wilderness Golf Club in the summer of 2002. The course was in phenomenal shape and had beautiful scenery. The way the trees blew in the wind was unreal. The way the lakes and ponds rippled was magnificent. A particular hole that clearly stands out in my mind is the seventh hole. My father and I came up to the tee box of the seventh hole and we were both astonished over how marvelous it was. We found ourselves overlooking a beautiful 150 yard par three with a sixty foot drop. The hole was an island green surrounded by a deceiving pond. This pond was deceiving because the green was enormous but the pond was extremely narrow. There were two enormous tees towering the greenside. The sand traps before the pond were glowing of tiny golden pebbles. The significance of the seventh hole is that my dad and I both thought we were not going to survive that hole. Surprisingly, we both hit the shots of our life. My ball went soaring through the crisp air and landed five feet from the pin. After that shot, I felt as if I could take on any shot that approaches me. That specific shot gave me a great deal of confidence, and made me believe I can do anything if I set my mind to it. My sophomore year in high school was my most memorable year for golf. I was moved up to varsity that year and I got to play in every meet. I was tremendously intimidated at first, but I started to get more comfortable as the year progressed.
