...one, you should automatically be sentenced to die. There’s no reason for you not to die. If you take someone’s life away, you don’t deserve to live. According to the Department of Justice, “In 2003, 65 inmates were executed.” Well, that’s 65 less criminals we have to worry about now. In the situation of the victim’s family, I don’t think they would want anything less than a death sentence. We all know that executing the criminal won’t bring back the victim, but it’s the sense of knowing that justice has been served. I’ve never been in a situation where someone I knew was murdered; however, if I did, I would only want for the criminal to be executed. It would be the only way for me to have closure. In today’s society, we have more murderers than before, so wouldn’t it be safer if a convicted murderer was executed instead of locked up for life? Definitely! This way, we wouldn’t have to worry about criminals breaking out of prison and going on a killing spree. We don’t always hear about murderers breaking out, but when we do, it’s scary. These criminals can go back to their old ways and start killing people. Why lock them up for life as opposed to executing them? The murderers don’t deserve to live. The only thing they know is to kill. In this day in age, we already have to deal with financial and educational issues. We don’t need to worry about criminals breaking out of prison. Just execute them and call it a day. According to Cynthia G. Oberg, “The average cost for cell facilities, per year is $34,200.” Now, take into consideration the 3,557 prisoners under the sentence of death (Department of Justice’s “Prisoners on death row.”).
