Pursuit of the American Dream
...am. Having such a variety of ethnicities in our society brings a very vibrant mix to our mainstream culture. One can see this in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the things we watch or listen to, the sports we play, they are incorporated into our everyday lives. Whether it’s Chinese, Italian, Greek, Mexican, whatever the culture may be, we as Americans somehow conform all these different groups into one big mixing pot. While on their own the different ethnicities are unique and different, in America they bond together as one through these shared basic values that the majority of the country believes in. Individualism has been a main part of our culture ever since industrialization in this country started to take affect. More and more people started to live in the city and the needs and goals of these people became more individually based. People began to strive for bigger and better things in an effort to achieve their “American Dream”. The American Dream is not the same for everyone.
