... when should stereotypes dominate the law? Are these people walking at night guilty until proven innocent? This man may as well been prosecuted for taking a walk. A man of color takes a walk, and is feared by others on the street? I find that so troubling to say that I have to swallow hard mid-sentence. How should that man feel when he witnesses what is happening? His morale probably sinks incredibly. Rest assured, he might as well feel like a criminal for being feared as such. The innocent due to appearance is seen as a risk waiting to cause terror upon you. So black men are considered dangerous at night. My money says nine out of ten people would say that a black man at late hours of the night on the streets is very unwholesome, dangerous, and threatening. My personal opinion of this article is this man is the wrong race at the wrong time. African Americans are seen as criminals of the night, plain and simple. The reason for this is because, for the most part, they are. Growing up with circumstances that have made some poorer than the dirt they walk on, they look for ways to equalize. These ways are often shun by the bulk of the nation, but to them, it is just another way to make money. Some turn to crime and vi...
