It is important to keep in mind that this training and the development of the training would add more expenses to a budget that can’t cover its current expenses. With proper planning and the disbursement of funds to the appropriate places, online learning programs can be implemented into New York City’s classrooms within the next couple of years. Compare and Contrast Strengths and Weaknesses A major strength of internet-based instruction is that both teachers and students are able to use technology in a productive way. Another strength is that coursework can be accessed at any time, and students are able to complete coursework at a time and place that is most comfortable and convenient for them. The major weakness of internet-based instruction is the possible lack of technical expertise on the part of both teachers and students. Another weakness may be the resistance to change from both teachers and students. Last, but certainly not least is the fact that there is no effective way to ensure that the intended student is completing the coursework. A major strength of traditional classroom learning is the social aspect. Students are able to physically interact with their peers as well as the instructor. Another strength is that students are able to receive immediate feedback from the instructor when faced with coursework they may be having trouble with. A major weakness of traditional classroom learning is that students are required to attend class at a specific time and place. Another weakness is that students may feel intimidated by their peers, which may lead to them not asking a question out of fear of looking “stupid”. Two more weaknesses related to traditional classroom learning may be overcrowded classrooms and in some cases unsanitary classrooms. Some of the major strengths of distance learning are the same as those of internet-based instruction, but there are some others as well.
