The unemployment rate continues to reach record levels while millions of Americans and Iraqi’s continue their search for jobs. There are thousands of soldiers fighting for a future with the hope of a better economy promised, in both The United States and Iraq, that is billowed full of uncertainties and false pretenses. Six months ago, President Bush asked congress for $87-billion dollars in aid to be directed toward Iraqi interests. I do not believe I have to tell anyone that this is a significant amount of money to be investing in a foreign interest while many people at home, in the USA, have been feeling the impact of budget cuts in financial aid for students, DSHS for single mothers, and Medicare Social Security for the disabled (60,000 people have been cut off from the Basic Health program offered by Washington State through federal funding). There were hopes that after the regime, in Iraq, had toppled there would be a strong economy in Iraq that would subsidize the surmounting reconstruction costs for their country.
