Macbeth

...ge amount of pity. At the beginning of the play he is shown as a wonderful character because everyone in his town knows him and thinks he is a great person. Macbeth is basically the hero in the beginning of the play but afterwards he becomes the complete opposite, a killer of the innocent people. In his town he is unable to be trusted and he is not respected towards the end of the play. He has turned from good to bad by pressure and criticism from his wife. “Golden opinions from all sorts of people, Which would be worn now in their newest gloss, Not cast aside so soon.” (I vii 31) At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is very independent and noble. Everyone is able to trust him and they all show him respect. At the end of it all Lady Macbeth pressures her husband to kill innocent people. She wants Macbeth to kill King Duncan so that he is able to become king. When she starts criticizing Macbeth, he falls right into her hands and goes through with her plan exactly like she wanted. Once King Duncan was dead, he realized that at the end of it all it was pointless. (V v 20) He had thought that killing him would make him bigger and better but it did the complete opposite.
