I think that reading this stance by Melba’s Grandmother gives everyone a feeling of discomfort and the knowing of how things really went on and the feeling of not knowing that all African Americans went through this day in time and still some today. Earlier in the story Melba talks about some of the events that happened to her that she just could not understand why people would treat her the way that they did and it was her being new to the fact that she was a little black girl and she was just not aware of herself and the way that others would treat her.
