Shakespeare in Highshool
...’t understand Shakespeare, doesn’t mean that I’m not good at English, but the Shakespeare component of English will always bring my mark down. If Shakespeare’s plays could be modernized so that they were easier to understand I think it would make students more eager to learn, and would help them to understand Shakespeare in a much clearer approach. If we’re going to be forced to read Shakespeare we should at least be able to read it in words that make sense to us. I also find that Shakespeare is very boring and tedious. It is difficult to pay attention and learn when what you’re trying to learn isn’t the slight bit interesting to you. The plots of Shakespeare’s plays are extremely confusing. The characters always die, love more than one person, and lie to each other making it very difficult to remember what happened. In nearly all cases, with the exception of with very few careers, a person will by no means use their knowledge of Shakespeare again after they have completed school, making it even more pointless to learn.
