Legal Injustice

... a young adult of less value than an old man. Honestly, how could an individual believe a society should protect its members on a scale, and still be considered a civilized society? Mother Teresa said it best when she said, "It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish"(para 6). The right of human life is undeniable, and definitely not negotiable. It is easy (understandably so) to be more concerned with the welfare of those around us who we love and care for, seeing those who we don’t know as less important, and somehow less real. For example, many people would rather hear of the deaths of thousands in an earthquake in Europe, than of a disaster involving loved ones and friends. The act of rape or incest has without a doubt, a tremendous amount of, not only physical, but also emotional trauma on any young lady or woman. So should this emotional and physical scaring on this young lady’s life be compounded on by the guilt of taking the life of another human being that was at least half of her own? Time and again, throughout history, when a pregnant woman is sentenced to death for a crime, the woman is allowed to deliver her child; the courts acknowledging tha...
