Poverty Is A Problem.
...overty within Canada however, the probable reason of most significance is that our societies experiencing such poverty crisis, aren’t doing enough as a system to treat and prevent such a problem. The structural functionalist approach to such a dilemma within a society would be to restore the stability and cure the damage of poverty on the society. Meaning that the problem needs to be tended to and resolved, preventing further outbreak before the society can function and operate successfully again. We as members of a society that function upon the interactions of social structures as a whole need to recognize the impact, and affect that poverty has on us as individuals and as a society. Poverty is the way of life for most people, unfortunately with no alternative choice. Food drives, shelters, fundraisers and programs such as “raise the roof” that attempt to financially fund the operation of helping those living in poverty, are consequently of little help. Such a problem cannot be addressed properly nor solved properly unless all members within a society come together and work co-operatively to solve the problem effectively. Factors attributing to the continuance and yearly contribution to poverty include; changes within the economy, the interrelation between family members in a society, the constant lay-offs of jobs in the market, and personal depression, anxiety, anger, or emotional/psychological distress. A quote taken from world-famous rapper Tupac Shakur makes the following point through the use of his poetic lyrics raising the argument that “when it rains it pours, we got money for wars, but can’t feed the poor”, such a significant meaning comes from this just statement. Why is it that we have billions of dollars to fund the operation of mass destruction of people and their societies, consequently adding to the crisis of poverty, yet we have no money to help our fellow members of need within our own society, which in reality can be seen as one big family?
