From 1995-2000 the U.S Congress repeatedly passed, but the president, Bill Clinton at the time vetoed a bill that would ban a rare late method of abortion called Partial birth abortion. Abortion usually takes place sometime in the first trimester of pregnancy. They have become more accessible and knowledge of them has grown. They are usually performed in this trimester for many reasons; however abortion after the first trimester relatively small. Between 1996 and 2000, the number of abortions in the United States fell from 1.36 million to 1.31 million. In today's society abortions are harder to get than they were in the early days. The reason for this is the government made it so that all girls under the age of 18 must have parental permission to recieve an abortion. Some of the girls under the age of 18 would travel to virginia to recieve an abortion where the state does not have any laws of parental consent. This means that some of the patients would travel very far distances just to have this practice done without their parents finding out they are even pregnant. Abortions should no...
