Coming from a Hispanic family they never thought they would have a chance. Plus the girls’ mother would not let them wear different clothing, nor do anything to their body to get them to be pretty. So behind her back she they all shaved their legs. But in the end about 4 years down the line all the American Beauty pageant winners were dressing like they had when they were kids. Why does the color of skin have such a large impact on the society? In the world today when a person is other than the color white. They are treated in a completely different way or at least it seems like that. In the American Beauty Pageant story a girl named Julia believes that she can not become a beauty pageant winner due to the fact that she is Hispanic and all the other girls are white. In today’s beauty pageants people are having one girl from each state in the contest to represent her state. So it is pretty obvious that it is a mixture of races throughout the contest.
