The Legalization of Marijuana
...y marijuana will spend as much as it takes to get it in their hands. The illegal marketing of marijuana is growing faster and faster each year with no end in sight. There is no easy solution, the drug problem is out of control and no amount of money or law is going to prevent the drugs from getting into the wrong hands. Our government will keep spending taxpayer’s money to gather more reinforcements to stop the drug war, but in time it will grow just as fast. My next reason why that I support legalization of marijuana is that it is not comparable with hard core drugs such as, Cocaine, Meth or Heroin. Taking any kind of drug can be very lethal and taking these hardcore drugs can make you overdose. It is a proven fact that there has never been a proven overdose death by using marijuana. Many hardcore drugs that are taken can mess with the regulation of dopamine in the brain, which can make the person become addicted to the drug thinking the drug is a necessity. Marijuana on the other hand does not have that effect on dopamine so it can’t be considered a drug that can be abused. It has been documented that in order for a person to die, he or she must smoke 40,000 times more after he or she is considered “stoned.” This fact is literally impossible for any one person. For my strongest argument the government should legalize marijuana so that it can be used for medical purposes. Marijuana has a 5,000 year medical history. The use of medical marijuana was opposed in the early 20th century but was declined because of other alternate medicine. Aspirin and other synthetic drugs were used instead. The Marijuana Act of 1937 was the final blow for it to be used for medical purposes. This act was used to stop any usage of the drug for medical substances and was put under The Controlled Substances Act as a drug that has a high percentage of abuse. People who suffer from cancer can use the drug to lessen the sensation of nausea due to radiation treatment. Marijuana can also make you want to eat more which can help patients with cancer and aids, consume more calories...
