Do I need to make an appointment? Yes! Medical Services uses an appointment system. Usually, an appointment will be scheduled within 24 hours. You should call 334-5334 during regular Student Health Center hours to make your appointment. For sudden illnesses, injuries, or unexpected problems you may come in without an appointment and, based on your needs, a nurse will assign you to the next available provider The next one is 2. Do 'REAL' doctors see patients at Student Health Services? Yes! The staff of Student Health Services is made up of well-trained health care professionals including doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, lab and x-ray technicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and health educators. Then 3. Are my medical records and visits to Student Health Services confidential? Yes!!! All interactions you have with the staff of Student Health Services are completely confidential. Your medical records cannot be released without you consent. If you are under the age of 18, your parents may have access to your medical records. If you are over the age of 18, you would have to sign a waiver in order for your parents to access your medical information. Another famous question is 4. What will it cost? If you are a full time undergraduate student or a graduate student taking nine (9) or more hours, you have paid a student health fee. This fee covers the basic care you will receive at Student Health Services for both medical and mental health services. Your student health fee also pays for wellness programs to enhance your personal health and well-being. Services such as lab work, x-rays, and prescription and over-the-counter medications are not covered in your student health fee; however, Student Health Services offers these services to students at the lowest possible rates. The last but not least question they ask is 5. Can I get medications? Yes!!! The Student Health Services has an on-site pharmacy. All prescriptions may be filled at the pharmacy, even if a doctor from outside the Student Health Services wrote those prescriptions. Please call in advance to be sure the pharmacy carries the medication you are prescribed.
