Graduation Day
... some way transported back to my grade school days, having to relearn our ABC’s to line up in alphabetical order. I was “M” as in magnificent, which I thought I was this very day, but for some reason the line was so unorganized that I had the Z’s behind me. Here we are, the future generation of America, and we don’t even remember our ABC’s! Not much hope for America is there? The lines were as long as freight trains. as we lined up, we resembled something like a derailed train. while I was standing in line, I was praying like a heavenly devil that the announcer would pronounce my name correctly and not like some disease or a fine Italian dish. Graduation rehearsal had also been a disaster. It poured bucket on top of buckets the night before, which made the field all muddy. I again transformed into a heavenly devil in hopes that the so called girls in cliques would be wearing white high heels. We also got a visit from dragon flies. it could have almost been compared to the plague of locusts, I kid you not. We were also forced to endure the cruel world of sitting through speeches from people whom I’ve never heard of. Also, trying to find the right dress and shoes to match was a problem. But you know of course it will all be well worth it. Then -graduation. The song “Pomp and Circumstance” blasted do loudly while we were walking towards the field where commencement was to take place that I didn’t even feel the pain from the guy behind me who was catching my heel the whole time walking. There I was standing beside my classmates thinking to myself, we actually did it! There I stood prouder than you could imagine. They called my name and WOW, to my surprise they pronounced my last name correctly! I stood there with a smile from ear to ear so big and cheesy that I resembled the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. I went up, received my diploma (remember: shake with the right hand receive with the left). I was so elated, but I asked myself, why am I so happy? I am leaving all my friends and classmates a...
