Through research of the Endzone Charity Sports Newsletter, I learned more about what John Elway donated his time to besides his family and football. In 1987 Elway founded the Elway foundation. This foundation was built to give support in the efforts to put an end to child abuse. In the first decade of the foundations existence, over three million dollars in donations alone had been collected. Also to help contribute to his foundation, John Elway holds the annual Sun Microsystems John Elway celebrity golf classic. Many celebrities such as Michael Jordan and Adam Baldwin come out in support of the charities. Proceeds from this event go towards the Elway foundation and local Colorado Charities. All the proceeds from the Elway Foundation are split up between two well-established anti-child abuse organizations, Kempe Childrens center and The Family Advocacy. These are just a few of the ways that John gives his helping hand to those who are in need.
