When the American people fail to vote, they are unwittingly surrendering their rights to those who do. II. B. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 41.3% of voters in the 2000 presidential election, were white males between the ages of 25 and 85. III. Voting is a civic and patriotic responsibility, that every American of voting age bears. A. By not voting, we turn our backs on those who fought and died to give us our freedoms. B. Over 1.3 million Americans have died, and many millions more maimed fighting for our right to “choose”; many of them cut down in the prime of life so that we could have the freedoms we now take for granted.
