When someone sees a Down Syndrome baby he/she can right away tell that there is something wrong with the baby’s face. Many times down syndrome baby’s eyes are slanted, and their faces are usually longer than that of a “normal” baby. Acquired disability’s can occur at anytime and without concern to gender or ethnicity. There are many acquired disability’s, but the three most popular are AIDS, Spinal Cord Injury, and Alzheimer’s disease. AIDS is one of the most commonly found acquired disability in the world today. AIDS is acquired by unsafe sex, blood transfusion or needle sharing (with someone who has the disease.) One famous man who had Spinal Cord Injury was Christopher Reeves. This type of disability leaves the person in a wheel chair and most of the time he/she will never recover. Alzheimer’s disease is the loss of memory over time. This disease usually occurs when someone is very old. Developmental disability’s are sometimes referred to as “learning disability’s”.
