To develop a new industrial estate at La Brea in which heavy natural gas-based and related industries will be constructed. This project is currently on its way, taking advantage of the opportunities available due to the economic boom the country is currently experiencing. The expansion entails the increase of the pipeline network by 147kilometres in order to meet the demand from the new plants. The Union Industrial estate entails an establishment of an 800 acres site. Moreover, the decision was taken to establish the Union Industrial Estate since it is located adjacent the Brighton port, La Brea, allowing easy accessibility of transport. Moreover the La Brea area is saturated with a high level unemployment. Therefore this project can create employment opportunities for the people of La Brea and the surrounding communities, thus providing the company with a labour supply and assisting in the reduction in the number of citizens living below the poverty line and increasing the standard of living within the communities. In constructing the industrial estate in La Brea, a mean of transport will be required in the future for the gas to be transported from Beachfield and Guayaguayare to the industrial estate. This cross-island pipeline project is currently under construction. Hence absorbing the benefits presented during this economic boom, thus, enabling the firm to grow and thereby increasing the employment level. The pipeline will add a capacity of 2.4Bcf/d with compression and 3.2Bcf/d without compression, thus, allowing the Cross Island Pipeline to create history. By being the first natural gas pipeline in the Western Hemisphere amongst the largest in the world. Another project whish will soon be on the way is the Beachfield Upstream Development. This project will allow the increase of overall capacity of the National gas company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC)’s gas transmission system. The construction of the 66 kilometers long, 36 inch width gas pipeline will be constructed offshore, running from the Cassia ‘B’ platform to the coast at Rustville, in which 3 kilometres will go underground to a new slug catcher, the facility used condensate from natural gas. This will create an abundance of benefits for the country and the company, by the allowance of increasing gas sales. Hence, the government can derive revenue via taxes, dividends and royalties.
