Getting my Puppy
...ell that the pocket sized animals were affecting them. I wanted a puppy so badly and the salesperson could sense it also. He started to ask us questions about what features we were interested in . I told them I wanted something that would stay little forever and my parents volunteered that they did not want to be bothered with a shedding coat. The salesperson recommended a bred called a Shih - Tzu. He brought over a few so that we could take a look and then he set us up in a private room so that we could get acquainted with the puppies. I instantly knew which one I wanted and fell in love with him immediately. He fit in the palm of my hand and looked at me with these big brown eyes. His coat was beautifully soft and fluffy and his coloring of black and white reminded me of an oreo cookie. As I stood holding my new friend close to my cheek, I flashed my big brown eyes at my parents and they could no longer resist. It was a done deal. My Dad paid for the our new family member along with a few other things that went along with him such as a cage, food, vitamins, toys, etc... They could not believe that we actually had a dog. We called him puppy for three days because we couldn’t agree on a name. We finally all agreed on Gizmo. We chose that name because he reminded us of the animal from the movie Gremblins. Everything was great the first week we had him. My brothers however did not want to take any responsibility for Gizmo. They said that he was my present so it was my responsibility to feed and clean up after him. I thought at the time, this isn’t so bad, it will be fine, however, I was so wrong. The training process did not work at all. I would actually say Gizmo trained me instead of me training him. He refused to go to the bathroom in our backyard so to avoid him making a mess in the house I put him on a leash and walked him down the road so I could be sure that he did his business. I am the only person that really takes responsibility for the dog so he of course is mostly attached to me. He’s a typical male and loves all of my girlfriends When they come over he wags his tail and rolls over on his back so they can scratch his belly, but becomes very protective of me when any guy friends come over. He barks and growls and nips at their ankles. My dog is jealous of any males , especially my bo...
