Most girls before the surgery have no idea what is really going to happen to them. Sometimes the event is associated with festivities and celebration. Girls generally just look forward to a ceremony that is celebrated to represent their new womanhood. What will be done is generally not explained to them. There are three types of female circumcision: Sunna circumcision, clitoridectomy, and infibulation. A sunna circumcision is when the tip and/or covering of the clitoris is removed. A clitoridectomy is when the entire clitoris and labia are removed.
