...s most terrific victories, at xxxxxx. Hannibal had to transport all of his soldiers and elephants across the Alps. This treacherous journey caused major losses in man-power, but Hannibal was determined to full-fill his father’s wishes and dreams. Along the way, Hannibal picked up local militia on his way to go against Rome. He used this mixed bunches of warriors along with his gigantic warriors to conquer towns along the northern part of the Italian Penninsula. There were tiems where he had Rome backed into a corner and could have had them, if Carthage would have sent in more troops. Hannibal attacked Rome time and time again, but all his attempts failed. He sent word to his brother-in-law, and with some persuasion, he convinced him to come and help out. But unfortunately he was in Spain and it would take months to get there, but he promised he would send in a few troops to help out for the cause. Hannibal’s march through Italy lasted a few years. Most of his victories came through the fear he put into his opponents just by showing them his massive elephants. Hannibal suffered very little opposition in norther Italy. The farther south he got, the more trouble he ran into. As when he first crossed the alps, he had lost a few minor battles, and now he was facing the same problem. Rome began sending more troops to attack Hannibal; for they realised the threat tat he posed. Even with his losses, Hannibal kept marching. He won a couple big battles, XXXX,XXXXX just to name a couple. But despite his success, Carthage still refused to send in help. As the months wore on, a few of the captured territories and cities Hannibal had captured began to revolt and make their land and cities Rome again. They succeeded in this mostly because of the lack of troops Hannibal began having, due to losses in battle. A few of Hannibal’s brother-in-law’s troops arrived and added numbers to his army. From Carthage’s position, Hannibal had to march his troops through the alps. In northern part of the Italian peninsula, Hannibal suffered a few minor losses. Rome knew they had to eliminate Hannibal, despite his series of losses he began to have, they still thought of him as a threat, because they didn’t know Carthage was not supporting him. So they decided to trick him. Rome sent word that they were attaking Carthage, and Carthage requested his appearance immediately. Hannibal’s quickest rout was to cross the Medditerainian Sea. So Hannibal piled all the troops he could and a few elephants on a boat and they crssed the sea. He sent one of his men to march the rest of the pack back through the Alps. Along his journey through the Alps, Hannibal picked up a few natives and added them to his army. By the time Hannibal got across the Sea, his army was compossed mostly of people from viallages eh conquered. He fought a battle with Rome and was quickly defeated. He met up with the rest of his troops and they began ...
