Philosophers on Today
...at didn’t suit them well just to make money. He would too be upset with our government being a democracy because he wanted a government that gave more power to the state, not the individual. He wished to have the government led by philosophers, but our government is nowhere near close to his ideal. Aristotle probably would not have too many criticisms of our modern life, but he probably would have wished that we had a more balanced government. Some of these criticisms would hopefully graciously be accepted so things in our lives would change for the better. Most criticisms lead to improvements, and Socrates, Plato and Aristotle would probably have quite a few. Socrates would most likely try to teach today’s people to think for themselves just like what he did in Greece by asking mind-boggling questions that make people wonder. He would suggest changing our government possibly by suggesting that we forget about our current presidents and any other unskilled member of our democracy and find new leaders who would know exactly what they were doing and do their jobs well. Plato would suggest that no matter what class a person came from, they should quit whatever job they have and find a new one that suits them better unless they already fit into their workplace and know what they are doing. He would also probably suggest change in the government by proposing that Americans might elect a philosopher or someone with intelligence and high ideals into office if we didn’t want to change our government to an aristocracy of philosophers altogether. Aristotle would recommend that all scientific facts be organized into systems to find what each fact shows by comparing. He would hope that we might even still increase the power of the middle class. Hopefully, America would listen to some of these suggestions so as to better our society. Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle would probably find things in our modern day lives intriguing and well-thought. They would approve of some of the changes citizens have made over the years. Socrates would be proud of the people that think for themselves and think outside the box and would be happy that most people are very logical and use reason. He would approve that studen...
