I would like to see the country go back to the words “going steady” because this seems like you take your friendships a little more seriously. Marriage counseling is also a great way to start a marriage. Many people think of a counselor when facing a problem. A counselor can also be a prevention of a potential problem. Dating would be getting to know the other person prior to marriage. I believe the opposite would work as well. Arrange marriages seem to work in other countries. I believe with the family values that are held high in other countries allow the relationship between the families an exciting experience. People may laugh and find a lot of humor in arrange marriages, but who knows the person better than they know themselves; their parents. If I choose a spouse for either my daughter or my son, it would be someone handsome/beautiful, spiritual, educated, someone who would love and support them through everything. Then I wonder why a parent can see what a child needs, but the child seems to find the complete opposite. When I use the phrase child this could be an adult child in his/her mid years as well as a young child starting out in life. The statement “mother knows best” does not have an age limit. I would not be surprise if America’s form of arrange marriages become internet matching. As a country we may select wrong life partners, but the secret desire for compatibility is always there. The internet may be the answer. Once you have met your desired mate, you need to work on the relationship being healthy. Last but not least, the phrase “a family the plays together, stays together” is a true statement. Building activities that allows you to hangout, and have fun together away from the daily activities of running a home, is healthy. Taking a vacation at least once a year should be required. The vacation price can range from economical to very expensive. We have learned to be creative over the years. Staying with family afar saves on accommodations, camping at a site with free entertainment, staying at a cheap motel near a beach site, and finding last minute deals over the internet have all proved to give great lasting memories. During these vacations couples have a great bonding experience. Discovering new things together will strengthen your relationship. I have a special attachment to strengthening the relationship prior to a potential problem. Watching a relationship grow apart, and have nothing in common after many years is sad.
