a crying heart

...free. But the trials they had been put through forced them to grow up. Together though they pulled through. Adam, for as far back as he could remember, he had loved Brittany. She kept him together, she kept him happy. She knew all of him, no one else in the world knew him like she did. He only kept one thing from her, and that was his feelings about her. He could not reveal himself to her, for fear of losing their precious friendship. If only he knew from the beginning, that she felt the exact same. So on that cold Saturday in January, they were all sitting in the basement as always, right as they had turned on the music, the phone rang. Brittany answered, wondering who it was. Her face immidiately fell, and she looked over to Adam. “It’s for you, it’s the police.” Adam, bewildered at the fact that they called him at Brittany’s house, immidiately began to think of what he had done wrong. He quickly got up and took the phone from Brittany, feeling very apprehensive, he spoke softly into the phone. “Hello?” he asked “Am I speaking to Adam Griffin?” a very official voice answered: “Yes it’s me, can I help you?” “I am very sorry to break this to you kid, but your mother has commited suicide. We are sending a squad car to pick you up now……..” The police officer continued to talk but Adam dropped the phone and heard no more. He dropped to the floor busting out in tears and violent screams. Brittany’s mother frantically ran downstairs and began questioning. She saw the phone off the hook and picked it up. Brittany fell to Adam’s side and began screaming. “What’s wrong? what’s wrong?, tell me please tell me!….”. All the long he kept crying and moaning “Momma.” As it would follow, Brittany found out what happened. As did her mother and pretty much the rest of the little town they lived in. In the months after word, Adam was ripped from his life and placed in an orphanage, which he hated. The orphanage was about an hour away from Brittany, and he wasn’t allowed to use the phone. He missed Brittany with all his being, even though his mother was gone, Adam didn’t miss her very much, he hated her more than anything. “How could she do this to me?” he thought to himself. A thought that was one of the most constant thoughts than ran through his mind. All his life, the world revolved around Brittany, but now he had been ripped away from her, and he was totally alone. He knew Brittany didn’t love him like that, and it saddened his heart to no end, all he wanted was for someone to love him, anyone. But now not even a hint of a so called mother was around, and the only person that actually cared for him had been Brittany. Now his life was empty, full of darkness. In the months after he got sent to the orphanage, his depression got worse. No amount of medication could soothe his loneliness or pain, with the question of being forgotten running through his mind, thoughts of death over whelmed him. Soon after, Adam slit his wrists with a piece of broken bottle he had found. The attempt failed, but the officials at the orphanage feared he might try again, so they sent him off, yet again, to a new, stange place called Atturberry. Atturberry is a hospital for the mentally unstable patients. Having attempted suicide and failing was the worst pain imaginable for Adam. Now he knew he had no control over his life, or even his death. Months went by, with daily therapy sessions, still no word from Brittany, he wondered if she even remembered him, or cared. He still loved her uncontrollably, and she was his ever walking thought. Mean while, Brittany stayed at home and went through her own state of depression as well. Since Adam got taken away, her life had been messed up too. Adam was her best friend, she had always liked him more than Michael. It had been eight months since she last talked to him. Now, she felt totally alone, she worried about him every day. She knew he was suffering, she could feel it. Now that he was gone, she realized how much she loved him. She took for granted all the times she had spent with him, he was at her side all olong, and now they couldn’t even speak. Even though she knew he would probably never get them, she wrote Adam letters anyway. The letters were filled with her thoughts of him. Her love for him, how she longed for the friendship now lost. She would write whenever she could, just to tell him how her day was going. Her love for her friend was so deep that it hurt her to even t...
