Characteristics of a Teacher, who teaches beyond the classroom

... of us in a stern fashion. I do not recall a cell-phone ringing in the class throughout the entire semester. She was well spoken and communicated effectively. This is probably why there were no cell-phone interruptions during classes. This characteristic was important because it enhanced the learning experience. I was attending also General Psychology, College Skills and Math classes. The English class I was taking enhanced my abilities with the other classes. For example, I did an assignment on how my best friend climbed the ladder to success, which enhanced my understanding of the College Skills class. Another assignment was on an event that helped me mature, which helped me to recognize my abilities to achieve my goals, which applied to General Psychology and College Skills. Another assignment that pertained to an embarrassing event was helpful in my General Psychology class and it seemed fulfilling on a personal level. I also was afforded an opportunity to do a research paper, which would be worth ten points toward my lowest test score in General Psychology. I earned an A on the paper and the overall passing grade of a B for General Psychology. My paper was well done and demonstrated my understanding of General Psychology. Mrs. Bailey also helped me to develop my skills by introducing me to, and getting me involved with, the student newspaper. Her coaching was very helpful to me and helped me to realize my potential. My first story made the front page because it was so well written. I also received an award from the editor at the end of the semester.
