To Read or Not To Read?

...lly enjoyed reading it. I think my age at the time I read The Outsiders helped me relate with this book, as well as the fact that I actually felt like an outsider; eighth grade had only been my second year in the United States. After I read The Outsiders for school I researched the author of this book and found out that the author had written a book called This is Now that Was Then, and read it on my own. I think it only took me a couple of days to read this book this was the first time I experience what not being able to put down a book was. An event in my life that showed me that literate can be enjoyed by all age groups and that books have many purposes was the summer of 2000 when I started a part time job at a public library, helping translate for the Hispanic community. Seeing my friends read and meeting people who used books for entertainment planted a seed in me that grew over a year. During high school I read books that were of some interest to me because of the comments shared by my family or things said about a particular book or author. I remember reading Romeo and Juliet during my freshman year, I was pretty anxious about reading it I had heard a lot about the story such as how romantic it was and the problems the couple went trough and how they solve them but at the end they both die, this were things I wanted to know more in detail, it was hard to understand because I was still shaping my English.
