Design Essay - A.M. Cassandre - ‘Wagon – Bar, railway station’

...e is one of the best poster artists of the twentieth century. Cassandre studied art at the acadimie Julian in Paris. He got a reputation with posters “Itoil du Nord” (1927) and “ Dubo Dubon Dubonnet” (1923) In 1929 he designed Bifur, a new typeface and later designed two typefaces, Acier Noir (1935) and poster art and devoted himself to designing stage sets and to painting. I think that A.M Cassandre’s design poster is quite colourful. The train wheel is the realistic colour of dark grey, but the foods, wines and lettering bring colour into this poster, each objects colour is realistic but the poster is definitely abstract.
