Immersed in power
... relax with one another and drink. While this was going on I was outside talking with two classmates, oblivious to what was going on inside the house. When I come in I was shocked to find one of the girls there three sheets to the wind. A friend and I took her to her parent’s house and explained to them what happened. They were understanding, but she ended up going to the hospital and almost died. My principle was someone I considered as a friend but the next day at school I was ambushed by my principle calling all the guys that were at my house the previous night to his office. When we arrived a policeman was with him and then began the worst few moments of my life. It turned out that because the girl was too drunk to remember her step-mom told her she could have possibly been raped. That was out of the question to all my friends and those that knew anything about any of us, but our principle was the biggest pusher of the charges. He felt it was his place to do so and in my opinion and the opinion of the senior class it had nothing to do with school. Then I came to the realization that I was lacking the power and authority held by my principal to do anything. Within a few weeks, I was no longer student body president and the principal’s eleventh grade son became president. I along with the entire school, who all felt that I should not have been impeached, also felt I had been cheated out of my position. The principal disliked our class and anything to do with it and with the chance to give his son the position I previously had he took it. He saw an easy way to use his power to satisfy his wants. Anytime anyone in a position with such power has an easy opportunity to make things go their way, they act on it. They have the power, so do they have the liberty to use it to their advantage in any and every circumstance that arises? If those that are in power are watching those without to keep them from doing wrong, who watches the watchers? What happened in my circumstance was an injustice to me.
