... I remember the days as a young 5-7 year old boy when I would clear the living room and set up shop with my ball, bat and glove, right in front of the television set. I would watch every Blue Jays game for the entire duration and imitate the players as they played the field or stepped up to the plate. My favourite was Joe Carter; he was always really focused on the game but seemed calm and colleted at the same time. Joe Carter has influenced me by being a great childhood role model for me. He gave me a superstar status to strive for. And still to this day, he is a good man and even though he is not a superstar, he is still someone I think highly of and strive to be like. Wait now! What’s all that racket? It’s Jadakiss, my favourite music artist. And it looks like he brought his whole posse with him. I love Jadakiss. He has been so influential in a positive way all throughout my high school career. Lyrically, I think he is one of the best artists I’ve ever listened to. His songs guide me to school every day on my thirty minute bike trek even when it seems so difficult to make it up that hill. When I hear him, it just makes me want to push harder and give it that extra bit of effort to make it through the hard times. And on top of that, he’s rich and famous so what more could I ask for? Well look who it is; it’s my father. Unlike my mother, who’s always ten minutes early, he’s always ten minutes late, but I call it fashionably late. This can explain why I’m usually right on time. Right! My father. He is the single most influential man in my life. I’d say he does a great job. From teaching me how to ride a bike to giving me my social skills and even the talk about the birds and the bees, my father has always been there when I’ve needed him most. He’s always taught me to stand up for myself and has allowed me for the most part; to choose my own path in life. He only steps in when he can see that something’s about to fall off track and is going to cause some real damage.
