cartoon sexism
...een crossing the road and the whole chase stops just to take a look. The female was wearing a red dress, red lip stick, and was very well endowed. This goes to show that the female was portrayed in a manner that most females wouldn’t approve of. From one of the ladies I surveyed, this was a very sexist act for a cartoon said Mrs. Chapman. Another cartoon is Donald Duck. In this cartoon most women are portrayed as house wives and nothing else. In one of the episodes of Donald duck, Donald and his nephews went outside and had a snowball fight. The nephews beat Donald in the snowball fight, and made him into a snowman, but when they let him out he was frozen solid. So they got there little wagon and wheeled him in by the fire and let him thaw out. The grandmother took care of Donald until he was over the chills. Then he left without a thank you or a simple hug. In another one of the episodes the grandfather always goes out and does things around town and make his wife stay behind, and when he comes home she cooks and cleans and still gets no respect. In this display of gender roles the media show that the women aren’t as important as the men and they don’t get half of the respect. In superman the females were only used for someone to save cause they were to weak. They were also used as bait in trapping superman. This cartoon, in my opinion shows the highest level of sex discrimination. The girl is always oblivious to what is happening and the man she works with every day saves her. Isn’t that ironic that she can’t recognize his voice or tell that it is his face. The women are always made as a target for the bad guy because they wont do anything but scream and distract superman from saving the world. They are not used to help superman or to help save the world they are just there doing nothing. Mrs. Crow said that its j...
