Involuntary euthanasia is when the decision to bring about the death of the patient is not taken by the patient himself/herself but by relatives or medical experts. Euthanasia can be further divided into 'active' or 'passive'. Active euthanasia is when a specific action is taken to bring life to an end - for example, administering a lethal injection or giving a patient an overdose of drugs.
