...self I know first hand about this situation. The problem is that the city is forcing the school to get rid of our butt lounge due to the smoking bylaw 8286. Sure it seems fairly easy, just forbid the twenty to thirty odd students from smoking on the premises. Well it's not that simple, me and every other student who smokes WILL find a way. Students will simply move off the premises and smoke, particularly alley ways around EHCI. This intern will create a whole new set of problems with people concerned that there are people smoking in mass in an alley behind their house. The school will then get phone calls from them urging them to keep the students from the alleyways. Unfortunately the school will have no power in preventing us from smoking off campus. Smoking is a very hard habit to quit, I myself have tried to quit, but could not. The absence of nicotine in my body creates uncontrollable mood swings, and outbursts, because of the irritability that is forced upon you. You come to belive that ciggarettes calm you down from stress in your life, but in actual fact it does the opposite, making your heart pump faster, almost like adrenaline. I myself have personally had a conversation with principal John Dewar on this very topic.
