... Orwell, there will be one party who possesses absolute power. This party will stop at nothing to control its subjects, even if it means inflicting fear and pain. However, these relentless techniques will be overwhelmingly successful, having very few dissenters. At a glance Orwell’s predictions seem far from what the future unraveled. Though the United States is not a totalitarian country stripped of all political freedom and the freedoms to love, read, or even think, the U.S. is brainwashed into believing something is what it really is not. “WAR IS PEACE…” Americans are brainwashed into believing that they can sleep safer tonight, knowing that something is effectively being done to end terrorism in America. Americans are told that they are winning the war against terrorism, when they are actually fighting with a country that had nothing to do with the events of September 11th.
