The Inequality of Equality
...oney in one year, but slaved away in a college for twelve years of their life trying to better themselves and failing time and time again trying to get where they are today, it is fair. But to the person who didn’t ever go to college and works for minimum wage it is not fair. Affirmative Action is another thing that disables equality. Affirmative Action was made to help equality when in actuality it hurts it. Lets just say that for your entire High School career you worked very hard trying to make it into the college of your choice. When it comes time to apply you are the best applicant for the position, but a minority also applies to the same university. Because of Affirmative Action the university accepts the less qualified minority student over you, the most qualified not-minority student. Sure the university was trying to make it equal, but they failed. There should be no equality in those situations; it should be the best person for the position, just like in the work force. Another example of equality that just doesn’t work is disabilities. Lets just say that a person with no legs wants to play in the NBA. It just cannot be done. In order to play in the NBA you have to make a team and also have legs to conform to the rules of the game. So the person without legs would probably sue the NBA for not being equal and discriminating against them for not having legs. The same would go for a quadriplegic person who wants t...
