Since the child will question their feelings, it is important that the child is able to talk to both of their parents honestly, where trust is the main factor to maintain a healthy and emotionally sound child. Even though there is a change in the marriage, the responsibilities of the parents should not change, since it is still their responsibility to be parents. If the divorce occurred while the child is still young, the memories may be forgotten with time, although if the child has reached adolescence, more memories about the separation will be remembered. With support from the parents, the child can develop a healthy emotional attitude. Separated parents are encouraged to still take responsibility of their child to develop a workable parenting plan, since the child did not do anything wrong, so he/she should not suffer any consequences, where they are lacking a parent figure.
