To prevent the spread of Mad Cow disease Health Canada has begun to work closely with the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and is also giving out information about BSE. The CIFA is keeping a close eye on the cattle by testing the brains of the cattle. Canada has stopped feeding animal by-products to animals since 1997. All the suspected BSE cases have to be reported to federal veterinarians, this has been ordered by the CIFA.
