Software Review
...rds to the ones chosen. One part of word that I found annoying was the office assistant which was not particularly helpful and provide very basic information, which if you have used word before you would probably know anyway. The advantage of Word is that it is very easy to use. Anyone can produce very good documents. Anyone not familiar with it can pick it up very quickly. The disadvantages are that there are too many features and proper training would be need to fully utilise them. Overall I think Word is a fantastic package it has great features, as some mentioned above, and easy to use. Microsoft Excel Excel, as with Word as a word processor, is the most widely used spreadsheet package available. It is reasonable easy to use, but as it is a little more specialised it is a little more difficult to use, but a novice can still pick it up quite easily. One most useful features of Excel is the number of wizards there are, such as simple sum wizard to a chart wizard. These make everything that little bit simpler because its hard to do it completely wrong. Excel seems to be good for the beginner, but still giving the capability to let advanced users do exactly what they need to. As a lot of spreadsheets are used for processing data, graphs and charts are an essential feature. Excel provides lots of different graphs and charts in 2D and 3D and in full colour. It also lets you put a chart on its own page as a full page on can be placed in any other sheet with the data. Once a graph has been drawn in one format you can easily change it to another with a couple of clicks of a button. Excel is a very versatile and flexible tool. As with word there are various text formatting functions to change font size colour, there are also tools to align text within the cells and format the cells. There are functions such as Auto sum, which adds up a selected range of cells, Sort, which sorts data in the cells in ascending or descending order. Spreadsheets can be created from simple home accounting to complex corporate account sheets that contain various different calculations. Again the annoying office assistant is present, but thankfully this can be switched off. Advantages are that it is relatively easy and straight forward to even though it is a bit more specialised, there are plenty of data manipulation tools and feature which are made even easier to use by the wizards. Disadvantages are that it is sometimes too powerful, and as with Word will need dedicated training for someone to realise most of, if not all, of its potential features. Over all an Excellent package full of features and generally for simple function quite easy and straight forward to use with good help. Microsoft PowerPoint PowerPoint has pretty much everything you could wish for in a presentational package, ranging from animation and sound effects, to a hug chunk of clip art and templates to get you up and running really quickly. It is easy to pick up the basics really quickly and knock out an impressive presentation in very quick time, ...
