She urged him to include women in the laws as having rights and representation in government. She is insistant that all men would be tyrants if they could, and this is why women should be involved. She warns that women will form a Rebelion if they are not included. He writes back and does not include women in the laws. He says that they “dare not exert our Pwer in its full Latitude”. She then replies that she thinks men insist on retaining power over their wives, and that that power is very liable to be broken. The Third is a letter from a loyalist to her husband. She leaves her home and goes through a terrible journey, with a pass from Washington, through patriot/rebel areas.
