...re the same. For some people it can be a bigger struggle than we imagine. These people who are feeling this way might think to them selves, “What am I even doing here? This is not for me.” That person’s thought alone can cause him or her to end their college education. Maslow would suggest that these are the people who may be stuck in the need of safety stage. They are afraid that they will fail. They feel like they can’t survive, or they don’t feel secure in the college environment. These are in fact the people who tend to discontinue their education. What if someone ends their education who did feel like they could do it, who was secure? Does that mean that this person is lazy? No. Often people tend to go through some changes that cause them to become distracted from other things, which is perfectly normal. Maybe it’s problems occurring at home or with family members. How can a person who is trying to better them selves through education return to a load of problems? For example, take someone who has to take on the responsibility of a household in place of an unfit parent. How can this person not get distracted from school? This would indeed be a person, who is at the bottom of Maslow’s needs, which is the physical needs stage. This person has no stability at home. Therefore he or she is thrown off track.
