...ernment. There have been many questions concerning this subject both in the past and present. The most important question is: are we morally obliged to obey laws we feel are wrong? Thoreau has shown by example that his belief was that we should not be obliged to obey any laws that we feel are unjust. According to Thoreau, the American government does not keep the country free, does not educate, and most importantly does not represent the thoughts and feelings of each and every person in the country. The problem with this is that it would be impossible to represent each and every person. Democracy represents what the majority thinks is right. So, what about the minority?
