The lifted tariff will also affect the United States as a whole. Because countries such as China do not have regulated child labor laws (as we do), they are able to produce a sufficient amount of products, such as shoes, at a “dirt cheap” cost. They take advantage of this situation; this way is cheaper for them to produce a large quantity of shoes. The Chinese shoes will flood the market in the United States if the tariff is lifted. It is natural for an ideological person to purchase the cheaper good as opposed to the more expensive one [providing that the quality is equivalent]. The fact that children and cheap laborers are being used to manufacture these shoes will result in a problem. Moralists will find this deeply wrong and then the people will be very unhappy with the government. When the Americans purchase foreign goods, the money going into the product is leaving the US and not helping the country at all. Money used to purchase the good is paid to the Chinese Government and their businesses. In its most extreme case this could pull the government into a recession, drastically depressing our economy. If the tariff is lifted from any product, not just ones affecting the shoe industry, it will affect the people, businesses and the government and economy of our great nation. I ask you to please reconsider accounting for the good of the citizens and the well-being of the country. Putting money into foreign countries isn’t productive for the United States at all.
