Teaching Philosophy
...rstanding of any material covered. My pragmatist beliefs have a direct correlation on my teaching theory, which is progressivism. My belief in progressivism has to do with the organized freedom that the theory is based on. I think giving the students a topic/problem to freely discuss makes learning more meaningful and develops an open mind to others beliefs. Due to the fact that I want open discussions in my classroom I would set the room design in such a way that everyone can have eye contact with me and with each other. I feel that setting the chairs up in a half circle would be the best set up for this and would even help stimulate and promote my teaching philosophy and teaching theory.
