... interested in the glamour and the life style that was lived on the east coast. This type of life style was a dream to Nick and when he arrived it just overwhelmed him. Another important thing about Nick is that he judged everyone that he met based solely on their backgrounds, not knowing anything about their personality. It was a bad way to go about determining the truth of people. The right thing to do would be know them better. Next, Nick’s initial character begins to change ever so slightly. Many forces caused Nick to change into his final character, but here are only a few. He began to loose his interest in Jordan when he heard of her dishonesty. For example, when Jordan was caught for cheating in a golf match and lied about leaving the top down on her friends car in the rain. Nick does not sympathize with Daisy as much as he used to when he realizes that all she wants is the money. She is not worried about love she just wants to have many things to keep her happy. Nick begins to have a greater respect for Gatsby when he takes the blame for hitting Myrtle. Gatsby has such a great love for Daisy that he takes responsibility for murdering someone. Nick really respects this and wishes that he could have the same kind of feelings for some one or even have the courage to do something like that. Nick realizes that the glamour is not all that it is lived up to be. In fact it is very dark and cold. The life style is also very hypocritical, which really disappoints Nick. This is what Nick’s dream in life was and it did not work at all. Gatsby’s death changes the way that Nick views people. It took something as serious as death for Nick to realize that you can not judge a book by its cover. Finally, all Nick’s ideas change completely. Nick completes his big character change. Jordan finally decides to tell Nick a big lie, because she doesn’t want a part of him. The love of his life no longer wants anything to do with him, which really hurts. In the lie, Jordan says that she is engaged, but Nick knows that it is lie. In the end Nick has great appreciation for Gatsby due the great sacrifices that he made for Daisy, she is the woman that he loves and could care less for him. Nick admires Gatsby and wishes he could be like him. He has a great appreciation for the man that Gatsby is. Nick no longer judges people by their backgrounds. When Gatsby died for someth...
